An Honorable Mention

As I said yesterday, I was so excited that Nichole Heady's blog listed my card as an Honorable Mention for Papertrey Ink's Guest Star Stamper Contest. This is the card that I submitted, among a few others.
So, even though I didn't win, I'm really glad I bothered submitting. It's something new for me and I'm trying to keep the right attitude: don't stress. If you don't win a contest or get published, maybe your card just isn't what they're looking for right now. Push a little harder to get a little better, and next time, make something a little nicer. It took me a l o n g time of lurking on SCS before I started uploading my cards. But doing so has improved my card making. And that is my goal, at least for now. If I'm going to stamp, do it as well as I can. Thanks for "listening" to my little pep talk.
And here's the How To:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink's Butterfly Kisses
Paper: SU! Kraft, certainly celery, white, Basic Grey Skate Shoppe
Ink: Versamark
Other: clear and detail white embossing powder, brad from Queen & Co., Prima (from my local Target. Yes, I said Target. How cool is that?), celery grosgrain
Stamp the large solid butterfly in Versamark on the designer paper. Emboss with clear ep. Cut out and gently mold into shape you'd like. With detail white ep, emboss "Heartfelt Thanks" on 3-1/2" by 6-1/4" folded Kraft card. This will fit a standard No. 6 3/4 envelope. Tie on celery grosgrain. Layer prima (with brad) and butterfly with glue dots to white square on celery. Really quite simple.

I love the simplicity of this card, Bethany. I too am working on not getting upset about not making the cut in some instances. But, I just need to not give up, and keep my chin up. Easy to say, hard to do! By the way, I loved your card yesterday. It inspired me last night to try something with acetate. I'm going to put it up on my blog later this afternoon. I gave you a plug about it today on my blog!

Bethany, congrats on the honorable mention! I feel the same way - it's hard to put yourself out there, but if you eventually get recognized for your hard work, it's so worth it! BTW, I just found your blog today - I didn't know that you had one. And great card! You deserved it!

This is a pretty card! I love the simplicity (so hard to do sometimes) and the size. Try, try again. You've got the right attitude, for sure!
