Limited Supplies, Very Limited

Can you believe that I was in Vegas for an entire week and didn't take a single picture? Well, it's true. We were there on business, but I did manage to squeeze in a stop at the Bellagio spa. Mmmmmm. The Las Vegas hotels have the most amazing spas and I try to go to at least one each year while we're there. What a treat!

I also took a few stamping supplies with me and managed to put together two cards, this being one of them. I actually stamped these three Hambo penguins at home and just took the stamped image with me. Aren't they so darling? I colored with markers and a water brush on watercolor paper. The sentiment is by A Muse, and then I added the swirls on each side. Where did the swirls come from? I was rather proud of this (ya know, limited supplies and all): I inked only these swirls on the frame stamp from Papertrey Ink's new set, Piece of Cake. Don't they make darling little accents?

What's In It?

Stamps: Penguins (Hambo); Warm Winter Wishes (A Muse); Piece of Cake (Papertrey Ink)

Paper: Stamper's Select White (Papertrey Ink); Black, watercolor (Stampin' Up!); Perhaps (Basic Grey)

Ink: Onyx black (Versafine); pumpkin pie, bashful blue, sahara sand (Stampin' Up!)

Accessories: water brush; ribbon (May Arts); white pen (Sakura); silver brads, ticket corner punch (Stampin' Up!)

Have you been checking out the Sneak Peaks over at the Verve Visual blog? There'll be a new project every day until November 10, because on that day TWO new stamp sets will be available. I'll be chiming in with a card on Friday, so make sure you stop by.

What a Cutie!

This Hambo dog sure makes me smile, so I paired him up with a great sentiment by Verve Visual, "sending you smiles". I stamped him with black Versafine on Stampin' Up's watercolor paper and colored with classic inks and an aquapainter.

NOTE: Be sure to give your stamped images some "ground", so they're not floating around in mid-air.

After it was dry, I added the chocolate chip sentiment. I put Star Dust Stickles over the three spots on the dog's collar, just cause he's so special.

I USED:

Stamps: Thoughtful Phrases by Verve Visual and dog by Hambo stamps

Paper: Stampin Up's very vanilla, chocolate chip, close to cocoa and watercolor paper, EK Success mini dots and K&Co. polka dots

Ink: black Versafine; SU! chocolate chip, close to cocoa, certainly celery, mellow moss, real red, brocade blue, soft sky

Other: Marvy giga scalloped and mega oval punches, SU! photo corner punch, SU! celery grosgrain, Lasting Impressions antique brads, aquapainter, Star Dust Stickles

Long Time, No Sea

Really, "Long time, no sea!" I haven't posted to my blog too much this week. It's been so busy. Right now, some of our friends are still here. Josh had a fantasy football draft here at the house tonight, so about ten of the guys were over. And some are still in the basement playing ping pong. I've been working on this card in bits and pieces over the last couple of days. I have so much new rubber, I don't even know what to do with it all. I've barely used my two new Papertrey sets. I got my first Stampin' Up order since the "new" catalog in July, and I ordered a few Hambo stamps when they were having a great sale. I feel like I buy in spurts.

These are a few of my new Hambo stamps. This is my first time buying from Hambo, and I really like them. I stamped the seahorse on pearlized white card stock, drew a water line with my micron pen (and a few water ripples), and colored with an aquapainter. Same with the happy little clam. I just love that little guy. The flower center is a piece of Taken with Teal, covered in crystal effects, with a brad on top.

Oh yeah, I used Beate's Weekend Sketch challenge for my layout.

Recipe:
Stamps: Hambo stamps
Paper: papertrey white, paper accents pearlized white, brilliant blue, taken with teal, sahara sand, arctic frog, basic grey
Ink: Versafine, pumpkin, brilliant blue, taken with teal, sahara sand
Other: cuttlebug dots embossing folder and scalloped circle die, ticket corner punch, giga scalloped oval punch by Marvy, coluzzle, circle punch, may arts ribbon, creating keepsakes flower, JoAnn's brad
