Fall Fun with SU Ink

I've got a Storage Units, Ink peak for you today, as does Debbie. This uses the adorable Leaf It to Me set (available September 1). I stamped the tractor and wagon, then masked the wagon, to fill it with this leaf pile. Don't you just want to jump right in there? The wagon totally reminded me of childhood hay rides, which I thought were the coolest thing. I grew up around farm country, if you didn't guess. Anyway, I colored with Copics, listed below.

I pulled out some great fall colors of Core'dinations and put together the striped pattern on the left, adding a few brads to the bottom.

Gotta run. I hate telling my parents no when they ask me to do something. So today will be quite busy. They asked if I wanted to go to the Titanic exhibit at the Science Center today. So I have to squeeze that in this afternoon before going directly to a wedding reception at four. I'm still not sure where I'll be changing into my dress. Could be interesting.

What's In It?
Stamps: Leaf It To Me (Storage Units, Ink & More)
Paper: white (Papertrey Ink); sutter butter, rustic, amazon, chocolate mocha (Core'dinations)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance); creamy caramel (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: ribbon (American Crafts), brads (Stampin' Up!), dimensionals
Copic markers: 100, E55, Y17, YR18, N5, B95, E57, E00, B00, G21, R46, YG63, 0

Fun is Good!

When I saw the completed Beautiful You set by Verve Stamps, I knew I'd have to use this stamp (sentiment chosen by Susan). It's just so, well...FUN! I started this card by pulling out some of my most fun ribbon, then matching up the colors from my Core'dinations stockpile. I cut a bunch of different sized circles and started lining them up together. Then I added a few Sassy Sequins and dotted the centers with Black Diamond Stickles.

What's
In It?
Stamps: Beautiful You (Verve Stamps)
Paper: kilkenny green, orange, crab grass, aruba, beach (Core'dinations); white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: onyx black (Versafine)
Accessories: circle nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); decorative scissors; black diamond Stickles; ribbon (American Crafts); sassy sequins(Queen & Co)

Golden Thanks

Yesterday was a FOUR card day! Yay for me. That may be the most original cards I've ever made in a day. Have I mentioned that I'm generally a pretty slow stamper? Actually, I made three cards and one other stamped item. But the "other" item is for this month's Verve project parade challenge. (You can play along here.) So I can't share that one yet.

Today's card uses lots of gold embossing powder. If it's
gold on this card, it's embossed. That includes flowers, sentiment, buckle, and gold card stock layer. For the layer, I cut it to size, used a very thin layer of glue to adhere the embossing powder around the edges, then heat set. The buckle: hold it with tweezers, heat for a few seconds, dip in embossing powder (the hot metal willmake the powder stick), repeat.

What's
In It?
Stamps: Grateful Elegance (Verve Stamps)
Paper: aqua mist, spring moss (Papertrey Ink); pearlized cream (Paper Accents)
Ink: Versamark; Old Olive (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: oval punches (Marvy); gold embossing powder, pewter hardware (SU!); spring moss grosgrain ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

Swimming By

...with a friendly "Hi". This sweet little fishie with the pretty swirled tail is just swimming by with a couple of friends. This started with the idea of a little elegant whimsey. Pale blue and browns. The fish are colored with Copic markers. The seashell is stamped with chocolate chip ink, then I just ran my water brush over it to spread the color a little.

The tag is a piece of Basic Grey chipboard covered in bashful blue card stock, with the edges inked close to cocoa, creamy caramel and chocolate chip.

Hope you're all having a good day. And if not, just keep swimming! Hugs!

What's In It?
Stamps: By the Sea (Lizzie Anne)
Paper: bashful blue, chocolate chip, kraft, white (Stampin' Up!); white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: chocolate chip, close to cocoa, creamy caramel (Stampin' Up!); vintage photo (Tim Holtz distress ink)
Accessories: chipboard elements, precision file set (Basic Grey); ribbon (Michael's); aquapainter; Cuttlebug die; Copic markers; dimensionals

Me, I'm on a card making marathon, at least for me. I usually make one card a day. I've got three done so far today. Eat your heart out Dawn. HeeHee. If only, that girl is a stamping machine.

By the way, if you haven't see the new look on the Lizzie Anne website, check it out!

Relaxing Dockside

This one uses Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge and the Look What I Caught stamp set. Oh my word, I love these colors of Core'dinations card stock together. I love that I can flip the paper to get textured or smooth surfaces. Yeah, I'm kinda falling in love. LOL.

What's In It?
Stamps: Look What I Caught (SU Ink)
Paper: chocolate mousse, auamarine, harborside, meadow (Core'dinations)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance)
Accessories: paper piercer and template, moss grosgrain ribbon (Stampin' Up!); gel pen (Signo); circle nestabilities and ribbon tag trio dies (Spellbinders); Copic markers

Beach Bag Tag

I thought this darling little mermaid would feel right at home on a trip to the beach or pool. I made the tag (contact info can go on the back) to fit in a 2.55" x 3.35" Vertical Badge ID Holder (mine are from Walmart). The mermaid, from Lizzie Anne's By the Sea, is stamped with graphite Brilliance ink and colored with Copic markers. I cut out the image and set her on this watery looking Making Memories paper. The sentiment is on a vellum half circle. Faux stitching with a white gel pen and a brown scalloped Nestabilities layer. Silver brads were coated with white embossing powder. I added a wee bit of Star dust Stickles to her scales and sea shells.

Now I'm all ready to hit the beach!

What's In It?
Stamps: By the Sea (Lizzie Anne Designs)
Paper: white (Papertrey Ink); vellum (Stampin' Up!); Boho Chic (Making Memories)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance); chocolate chip (SU!)
Accessories: star dust Stickles (Ranger); brads, white embossing powder, paper piercer and template (SU!); white gel pen (Uni-ball); badge holder, ribbons, Spellbinder's nestabilities rectangle dies, Copic markers

Back to School Gift

Yes, I know it's Friday, but I'm just now posting my creation for this week's Whatchadoin Wednesday challenge at Storage Units, Ink & More. The challenge was SPARKLES! So I made this gift packaging to go with my back to school card from a few days ago. I filled mine with some fun colorful pens, but I also thought pencils, erasers, little sticky notes, colored pencils, markers, and/or paper clips would be great too.

The clear part of the box is basically just a tube scored at 2,4,6, and 8 inches with an extra 1/2 inch overlap at the end. It's tall enough to accomodate my pens. The top and bottom need to be scored at slightly larger lengths to fit over the "tube". I put an eyelet through the top center of the box and tied a ribbon loop in it. So you can pull on the loop to open the box. The top has faux eyelets in the scallops: I punched a 1/16 inch hole and rounded it with my white gel pen.

Images (all from A Touch of Class) are stamped with graphite Brilliance ink and colored with Copic markers. My sparkles: I used black Stickles to make a road around the bottom of the box for the bus. More black Stickles dotted around the tag scallops. Star dust Stickles on the bus windows.

You can play along (with or without SU Ink stamps) and leave a link to your creation on the SU Ink blog, here. And if you've been wanting to try the cool new Core'dinations card stock, it's still 25% off through August 25.

What's In It?
Stamps: A Touch of Class (SU Ink)
Paper: real red, celery prints (Stampin' Up!); white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance)

This week it's Julee's turn in the hot seat for the Meet the Verve Diva feature. And as her challenge, she gave us another rockin' sketch! So, if you're looking for inspiration or want to pick Julee's brain a bit, check it out. This is the card I came up with this morning using her sketch.

Mmmmmm...Icing

Yep, with cake, it's all about the icing for me.

Here
, I used Lauren's Saturday Sketch for this Verve cupcake card. The big cupcake: the wrapper is paper pieced with the background paper and the icing is rock 'n' rolled with blush blossom then pretty in pink ink. (That means, dip the whole stamp in light color, then roll just edges in darker ink. Then stamp.) I colored the flowers with copic markers. The smaller cupcakes: the wrapper is two stamps. The base is solid celery, the lines are done in olive. The icing is rock 'n' rolled again, this time with pretty in pink and regal rose. I colored the celery grosgrain ribbon with a copic marker to get this darker color.

What's
In It?
Stamps
: Cupcake Affair (Verve Stamps)
Paper: white (Papertrey Ink); regal rose, old olive (Stampin' Up!); Sultry (Basic Grey)
Ink: noir black (Palette); old olive, certainly celery, regal rose, blush blossom, pretty in pink (SU!)
Accessories: circle nestabilities dies (Spellbinders); celery grosgrain ribbon (SU!); Copic markers; icons gems (Me & My Big Ideas)

Back to School

I want to pass on some good sale info for you before I move on to my card today. If you haven't tried Core'dinations card stock yet, now's the time! Because you can get it for 20% off at Storage Units, Ink & More now through August 25. This stuff is really fun to work with. One side is textured and the other flat. The colors are so vibrant. Then there's a white core you can expose by sanding, tearing or distressing, like I did on this card. And there are SO MANY colors to choose from.

If you didn't run off shopping already, here's my card today. It uses the SU Ink set, A Touch of Class and last week's CPS77 Sketch. I thought this would be perfect for back to school money or gift cards for all those nieces, nephews or grandkids. Or a great note to tuck into your kids backpack the first day of school. Please tell me backpack is still the proper lingo. I'm a little out of the back-to-school loop.

Be Strong

This is for Charmaine's Meet the Verve Diva Challenge, black and white splash. I think I misunderstood a bit. There's only supposed to be a splash of color. I was thinking anything goes as long as there's only one color. Oh well, let's pretend this is a "splash" of green. (Splitcoast isn't loading for me right now. I'll link to the challenge later.)

I applied both the Plain Jane Psalm 31:24 stamp and this border from Grateful Elegance to the same block and stamped it just one time, all lined up the way I wanted it. I think it's all pretty self-explanatory. If you have any questions, just drop me a comment or email.

What's In It?
Stamps: Psalm 31:24, Grateful Elegance (Verve Stamps)Paper: spring moss, white (Papertrey Ink); black (Stampin' Up!); small dots (Making Memories)Ink: onyx black (Versafine)Accessories: rectangle dies (Spellbinders); hydrangea and petite flowers (Prima); spring moss grosgrain (Papertrey Ink); icons gemstones (Me & My Big Ideas); tacky tape (ProvoCraft)

Tropical Fish

Doesn't he just make you want to go snorkeling? I've gone a couple of times, but I have a rather healthy fear of sea life, namely sharks. This colorful tropical fish came from Lizzie Anne's By the Sea set, and was colored with an water brush and Stampin' Up! inks. The air bubbles are imitation "Dew Drops" I bought at Michael's a while back. And notice the cute little mermaid peeking up from the bottom of the card. HeeHee. I think she's just so cute.

What's In It?
Stamps: By The Sea (Lizzie Anne Designs)
Paper: real red, cool caribbean, apricot appeal (Stampin' Up!) American Crafts, Canson watercolor
Ink: onyx black (Versafine); cool caribbean, gable green, real red, pumpkin pie (SU!)

Why Do I Love Stamping?

For the same reason I love Victoria's Secret. Huh?!? Because everything matches! I have (yet another) baby shower to attend this weekend. I already bought my gift and packed it up in this pretty gift bag. Now a card. Hmmmm? Better yet a matching card! I embossed the decorative circle from Artful Elegance on my close to cocoa border. Then stamped the gorgeous background onto a piece of soft sky. I layered the sentiment with some punches and Nestabilities and created a grouping by adding a couple of Prima flowers. Finished size is 4.25 inches square.

And here it is with the "matching" gift bag. Sorry for the poor photo, but you get the idea.

What's In It?
Stamps: Artful Elegance, Family Phrases (Verve Stamps)
Paper: white (Papertrey Ink); soft sky, chocolate chip, close to cocoa (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Versamark; close to cocoa, cool caribbean (SU!)

Whachdoin' Wednesday?

Today is the first installment of Whachadoin' Wednesday at Storage Units, Ink & More. The challenge today is to use embossing folders. If you don't have embossing folders and would still like to play along, I give you unofficial permission to do the old fashioned dry embossing, or even faux dry emboss. If you upload to Splitcoast, use keyword SUINKWWC1. And please leave us a link to your creation (gallery or blog) so we can all check it out. Leave your link on this SU Ink post.

And here's mine. I embossed my Grape Gusto Core'dinations card stock with the Bloom Dots folder, then sanded a bit to bring out the lighter core color. Isn't that fun?!? I stamped some images from At A Snail's Pace on the background and stamped a few more on scrap card stock to cut out and layer for my little garden scene. To go with my distressed background, I also distressed the Purple Moon layer of my main image. And I just love the little trio of funky brads to go with the round sentiment. One more brad with some ribbon scraps in the top corner finished it off.

What's In It?
Stamps: At a Snail's Pace (SU Ink)
Paper: grape gusto, purple moon, meadow, grassroots (Core'dinations); white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance); elegant eggplant (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: precision file set (Basic Grey); distressing tool (Tim Holtz); ribbon (American Crafts); brads (Queen & Co and SU!); bloom dots embossing folder and stamps die (Cuttlebug); dimensionals

Also, thanks to everyone
who partied with Verve last night at the release party on Splitcoast. I had such a blast chatting with some of you. Sorry if I missed you. I couldn't quite keep up with the pace. If you missed it, Verve has all the new releases available now on the website. That's six new sets and five Plain Janes. You're going to LOVE them. Fun, elegant, and SO VERVE!

Pumpkin Thanks

Just a quick post this evening using the upcoming release from Verve, Grateful Elegance, available Wednesday, August 13. For the sentiment: I stamped the flower on scrap paper once, then on my circle to get a paler color. Then stamped the "thank you". I put the Spellbinder's die back in place as a template for the dashed border. For the scalloped border (Martha Stewart punch), I added a little cut out flower to every other peak. The background is also a part of this lovely set.

What's In It?

Beautiful You

I finally get to share with you "my stamp". Okay, it's just a quote that I chose to be made into a stamp, but I call it mine. For Verve Stamps' one year anniversary, otherwise known as the anni-Verve-sary, Julee had each designer choose a quote or saying to be included in the anni-Verve-sary set, Beautiful You. (available August 13) I scoured the internet and came up with this:

"Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes, and dance"-Oprah Winfrey

Didn't Julee just fancy it up perfectly?!? I'm so tickled. Anyway, I chose this sentiment because it reminds me of dancing around the kitchen with my mom to "the oldies", of good times with girlfriends, of swing dancing with my husband, and yes, I still twirl across my own kitchen floor. A day with dancing, is a day worth living. It just makes me that happy.

Enter to win this entire stamp set by leaving a comment on this thread in the Verve Forum.

Now for the card:
I started with today's Anni-Verve-sary sketch. (That link will take you to the master thread of sketch challenges so you can play along for any or all of the twelve days.) I stamped "my" sentiment directly on some Perhaps paper, and started layering with Spellbinders die cuts. That purdee ribbon, I got it for a dollar for TEN YARDS at Michaels a while back! If you notice a little glitter in the upper right corner, that's because I accidentally set one of the corners, with glue, there for a second. I couldn't quite get it all off, so a little clear glitter added some unexpected bling.

What's In It?
Stamps: Beautiful You (Verve Stamps)
Paper: very vanilla, purely pomegranate (SU!); Perhaps (Basic Grey)
Ink: purely pomegranate (SU!)
Accessories: Cuttlebug textile folder, Spellbinders circle dies, Hydrangea Prima flower, SU! slot punch, Darice adhesive rhinestone, Michael's Basic ribbon, clear glitter

Today is also another day of blog candy for Storage Units, Ink & More. You can find that at Kimberly and Leigh's blogs today.

SU Ink Blog Candy!

That's right, baby! I've got blog candy today. See that cutie over on my card, sitting on the dock fishing? He could be yours! More specifically, the entire Look What I Caught stamp set from Storage Units, Ink & More could be yours. Check out the entire stamp set here, after you enter the drawing of course.

Now, about the card. I stamped the boy/dock/fishing pole (all one big stamp) and colored with Copic markers. I added in a few extra waves with my markers. The cattails, bait and hat were stamped and colored on scrap card stock, then cut out and glued on the card. I glued them flat, but it still gives a little bit of dimension in real life. The scallops on the right are one inch circles glued part way under the next layer, with a brad in each center.

What's In It?
Stamps: Look What I Caught (SU Ink)
Paper: chocolate chip, celery and saffron prints (Stampin' Up!); Boho Chic (Making Memories); white (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance); Jumbo Java (VersaMagic)
Accessories: Copic markers; 1/2" circle and photo corner punches (SU!); antique brads (Lasting Impressions)

Now, how do you win?
Leave a comment right here on my blog. Any old comment will do, but if you need a question, how about this: what is you favorite stamping technique? I rarely remember to do it, but I like when images are cut out of the box, sort of like the cattails and hat above.

The Fine Print:
Be sure I can get hold of you. If I choose a winner with no email address/means of contact, I'll choose another winner. I'll pick a random commenter to win after midnight (Eastern) Thursday night and let you all know by Friday morning.

Now, head on over to Lauren's blog, cause she has candy too!

Personalized Pencil Box

The latest Storage Units, Ink & More stamps are available today, so here's another quick idea for one of the sets.

I picked up this cute pencil box at Walmart, (I think it was like 50 cents) and set to work personalizing it for my friend's little girl. It was so easy to make a wrap that could be stuck around the box. I found it easiest to score all the lines first, stamp, then fold and adhere to box.

The stamps, all from A Touch of Class, are done in Graphite black ink and colored with Copic markers. To make the "floor", I colored the whole area with the light brown Copic, then drew a few little lines with a darker brown. Last, I lightly colored over the whole thing with the blender marker. The cute little butterfly punch is Core'dinations covered with Star Dust Stickles. Because what little girl doesn't love a little bling?

What's In It?
Stamps: A Touch of Class (Storage Units, Ink & More)
Paper: white (Papertrey Ink); plum blossoms fresh prints (Deja Views); grassroots (Core'dinations)
Ink: graphite black (Brilliance)
Accessories: Copic markers, martha stewart butterfly punch, Stampin' Up! round tab punch; Star Dust Stickles, American Crafts ribbon, sticky strip, black micron pen
