It's Not All Black and White

Black, White &...Red, of course

Choosing the color for today's "Black, White &..." feature was a no brainer, seeing as how my new Papertrey Ink set arrived Friday. It's called Little Lady and is just so darn easy to work with. Nichole Heady is a stamp designing genius, making every element it's own stamp. This works especially well since they are acrylic stamps. You can see right through them and place all the elements together with easy, perfect alignment. Sorry for the ramble, but they're such a joy to work with.

I started by stamping the ladybug (black parts, then red body) and her trail. I re-stamped the trail on the main body of the card so the two would fit together to make one trail. Then I started filling in with red flowers. I put both sizes of flowers on one acrylic block and the stamping went twice as fast. I filled in with some tiny black and red flowers and added the starburst center (from Butterfly Kisses) in black. The starburst center idea came from Debbie Olson in the Papertrey online gallery, I believe. I made a terrible smudge right above the ladybug's head with an inky finger, therefore the dotted ribbon.

What I Used:
Stamps: Papertrey Ink Little Lady and Butterfly Kisses
Ink: Versamagic Red magic and midnight black
Paper: Papertrey white, SU basic black and real red
Other: hole punch, dashes dots and checks ribbon

This is so pretty! I love those background flowers, and the way the ladybug trail is on the bottom layer as well as the top.
